Sept. 10 marked the 10th anniversary of World Suicide Prevention Day. Drs. Stan Kutcher, Sonia Chehil and Joe Sadek of Dalhousie’s Department of Psychiatry are among those who recognize the importance of education, specifically for health professionals, in preventing suicide. They have created a suicide risk management manual, a suicide policy and form for Capital Health and an online training program for health professionals. The hope is that by educating health professionals they will lessen the number of suicides that occur.
Here are two powerpoint presentations they use in educating clinicians. For more information, please contact Joseph.sadek@cdha.nshealth.ca.
